How are sponsorships credited to my fundraising?

Summary

Sponsorships count toward your fundraising total whether they appear as promised or received. Promised sponsorships appear on your Promises list, and once funds are received, they also appear as donations on your fundraising page. Not all campaigns support sponsorship promises.

Where will I see a sponsorship?

Depending on how and when the sponsorship is submitted, you may see it in one or more places:

  • Promises list in your Fundraising Tools

  • Donations tab in your Fundraising Tools (once funds are received)

  • Your fundraising webpage (once funds are received)

Whether listed as promised or received, sponsorships always count toward your fundraising total.

Will a sponsorship show as “promised” or “received”?

Sponsorships may appear in one of two ways:

  • Promised first, then received – A sponsorship promise is created and later updated once funds are processed

  • Received from the start – The sponsorship posts immediately as a donation

Both options are normal and depend on how the sponsorship was submitted and processed.

Important: Not all campaigns support sponsorship promises. If your campaign does not support promises, the sponsorship will only appear once funds are received.

When is a sponsorship promise created?

A sponsorship promise is created when:

  • An individual or organization purchases a sponsorship opportunity online, or

  • Sponsorship funds are received before a promise was created

If your campaign supports promises, the system will automatically create or update the promise for you.

What happens when the promised sponsorship funds are received?

When sponsorship funds are received:

  • The sponsorship is processed as a new donation

  • The donation appears on:

  • The Donations tab in your Fundraising Tools

  • Your fundraising webpage

  • The associated sponsorship promise is updated to show it has been received

No action is required from you for this update to occur.

Note: If your campaign does not support promises, you will only see the sponsorship once it has been processed as a donation.

Expected Result

Participants are able to verify that:

  • Sponsorships count toward fundraising totals.
  • Sponsorship promises appear in Promises list when supported by a campaign.
  • Received sponsorships appear as donations on a fundraising page.
  • Sponsorship promises are automatically updated when funds are received.
