Summary
Matching gift credit appears on our records after you submit your matching gift request and Blood Cancer United is notified.
IMPORTANT: Matching gift credit cannot be applied until Blood Cancer United is notified that the matching gift request has been submitted.
Employer processing timelines may vary and are outside of our control.
How matching gift credit works
Matching gift credit is applied after both of the following occur:
- You submit a matching gift request through your employer’s matching gift or workplace giving program
- Blood Cancer United is notified that the matching gift request has been submitted
Notification may occur automatically through your employer’s system or through additional confirmation.
This credit reflects internal acknowledgment of your submitted matching gift request and is separate from how matching gifts may appear on a participant’s fundraising total.
When you can expect matching gift credit
- Matching gift credit does not appear immediately after you submit your request
- Processing timelines vary and may take several weeks
- Credit timing depends on when Blood Cancer United receives notification of your submitted match
Letting Blood Cancer United know that you’ve submitted a matching gift request helps us apply matching gift credit and, when applicable, reflect that credit in a participant’s fundraising total. Details about how matching gifts appear in fundraising totals vary by campaign and are explained separately for participants.
If Blood Cancer United is not notified automatically
To help us apply matching gift credit more quickly, you may let us know once you’ve submitted your matching gift request by completing our workplace giving request form.
- This form may help us confirm submission when employer notifications are delayed
- When the form is submitted, donors typically receive a response within 48 hours
- Crediting timelines may be longer when no notification is received
What proof can I share?
To make sure fundraising credit is applied correctly, Blood Cancer United may need proof that your matching gift request was submitted.
You can share:
- A confirmation screen from your company’s matching gift portal
- A confirmation or approval email from your employer
- A screenshot showing your submitted matching gift request
💡 These confirmations can look different depending on your employer’s system.
If you’re not sure what to send, our staff can help.
